June 21, 2012 Regular Meeting Agenda Item #59 Item Title Appoint One School Board Member and One Citizen Member to the Value Adjustment Board Issue/Rationale Florida Statute 194.015 requires that each year the School Board appoint one of its members and one other citizen to the Clay County Value Adjustment Board.  The citizen member must own a business occupying commercial space located within the school district, may not be a person who represents property owners in any administrative or judicial reivew of property taxes and may not be an employee of the school district.  The VAB will meet in late August or early September to choose special magistrates, appoint counsel and certify the tax roll.  It will meet again in January or February to review the special magistrate findings on the petitions.
